Lifeguards will be on duty July 1, through September 6, at Waverly Beach from 1pm-5pm Monday-Friday & 2pm-5pm; Saturday-Sunday, at Houghton Beach from 1pm-6pm; Monday-Sunday except for inclement weather days or when air temperature is under 65 degrees.
The benchmark for successfully passing the non-surf Open Water Swim Test requires a minimum of 25 yards - crawlstroke with side breathing. Those demonstrating a weak stroke will not be permitted to go beyond the shallow water buoy line. Adults 18 years and older must remain within arms reach of non-swimming children under the age of 7.
Swimming along Kirkland shorelines shall be confined to restricted swimming areas as per KMC 14.20.010
