Dave Asher has served on the City Council since January 2000. Prior to serving on the City Council, Council Member Asher was the Chair of the North Rose Hill Neighborhood Association and Co-chair of the Kirkland Alliance of Neighborhoods. Council Member Asher has continued his broad community involvement by maintaining active membership of numerous regional, civic, and community organizations.
Current committee assignments: Council Public Safety Committee and the Legislative Committee.
Regional representation: Metropolitan King County Regional Law, Safety and Justice Committee, the SR 520 Executive Committee, the SR 520 Mediation Group, Eastside Transportation Partnership, and the Suburban Cities Association Public Issues Committee. Mr. Asher also sits on the state board of Transportation Choices Coalition and the Cascadia Community College Foundation Board.
About Council Member Asher: Dave Asher earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee and a Master of Science Degree in Logistics Management from the Florida Institute of Technology. He is a graduate of the Eastside Leadership Institute and was awarded the Institute’s Distinguished Alumni award. Council Member Asher is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel having served in the regular Army for 21 years as an aviator, infantryman, and long-range planning officer. Council Member Asher has lived in Kirkland since 1993 and currently is the Director of Finance and Planning for University of Washington Educational Outreach.
