Amy Walen began her first term on the Kirkland City Council in January 2010.

About Council Member Walen: Originally from Oregon, Mrs. Walen attended University of Queensland in Australia, graduating in 1990. She practiced law in Australia until she returned to Oregon in 1994. She began working at MacKenzie Ford dealership; while completing accounting classes at Portland State University. She met her husband Jim, who also worked at the dealership and in 2005, they moved to the Kirkland area to acquire an interest in Ford of Kirkland. Mrs. Walen is currently the chief financial officer at Ford of Kirkland.
After completing treatment for breast cancer in 2005, Council Member Walen returned to work at Ford of Kirkland, and became very involved in community outreach. She has been an active fundraiser for the Komen Race for the Cure (Puget Sound Chapter) and has helped organizations such as Meow, Old Dog Haven, Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, Kirkland Pace Race and Evergreen Hospital. She has organized blood drives and highway clean ups in Kirkland through State’s “Adopt a Highway” Program.
