Garbage and recycling are collected as usual from both residential and commercial customers on all weekday holidays except Thanksgiving, December 25, and January 1.
If your collection day falls on Thanksgiving, December 25, or January 1, your service will be delayed one day. If your regular collection day comes after collection has been delayed because of a holiday, your service will also be one day later that week. For example, if your regular service day falls on Thanksgiving Day, your pickup day for that week will be adjusted forward one day to Friday and customers with a regular Friday pickup will receive service on Saturday.
SNOW AND BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS
During periods of bad weather, Waste Management becomes very concerned about public safety and the well being of their drivers who have to drive and walk in these hazardous conditions. When they are unable to perform collections safely, collection will cease temporarily. If you find that Waste Management has not collected your garbage, recycled materials or yard waste on such a day, please remove your carts from the sidewalk or street and store your material until the following week when your driver can safely collect two weeks' worth of materials at no extra cost. Since a double load of garbage and recycling is collected on your next regular service day, no credits will be issued for the service day missed due to inclement weather.
The City of Kirkland and Waste Management sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and hope you will understand!
During these periods, collection announcements will be forwarded to various radio stations (KIRO 710 AM, KOMO 1000 AM and KING 1090 AM). You can refer to the Collection Day Bulletin Board for collection updates and for tips on managing extra garbage and recycling. You can also call Waste Management Customer Service at (800) 592-9995.
