We feel it is important for you, as a job applicant and our customer, to know what to expect from us in the course of your job search with the City of Kirkland.
The entire process from the time we begin screening job applications to the job offer takes approximately 4 to 5 weeks.
We generally begin screening applications the first business day after a position closes; however, for continuous recruitments, applications will be screened as openings occur.
You can view screening status of positions that you have applied for by logging into your account in
GovJobsToday.com and clicking on the Job Applications tab.
BACKGROUND SCREENING
Pursuant to RCW 10.97, all finalists for positions are required to complete an authorization for the City of Kirkland to conduct a criminal history check. This may include additional fingerprint-based checks if deemed necessary to obtain the appropriate clearance for the position for which you are applying.
Note: A conviction record will not necessarily disqualify you for employment unless such a record would reasonably affect your fitness for the job for which you have applied.
TESTING
Many, but not all, positions require testing prior to conducting interviews. Testing, when used, will be job related.
If you are invited to test,
we will contact you by email and explain what the test will cover, when and where to go, and what (if anything) to bring.
Upon review of test results, we will invite a select group of candidates to interview.
INTERVIEWING If you are selected to interview we will
contact you by phone or email. Finalists will be required to provide a signed background release and/or disclosure form as necessary for the position. You will be informed which forms are required.
