The mission of the Kirkland Fire and Building Department is to provide fire, building, and emergency services to our community through a cost effective and efficient delivery system to enhance a safe environment for the public.

Our office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. (Please see building application forms for submittal hours)
The Fire and Building Department consists of three divisions.
Fire Administration:
- Which provides overall administrative support and direction for the Fire Department.
- Fire Prevention Bureau, which provides public education, annual fire safety inspections of commercial buildings, fire scene investigations and citizen outreach programs.
- Emergency Management which oversees the training of disaster planning to both citizens and staff.
Fire and Aid Emergency Operations:
- which provides fire and life safety to the citizens of Kirkland and surrounding areas.
- Fire Training, which oversees training requirements and certification for specialized training, i.e. hazmat, high angle rescue, confined space rescue, trench rescue, near shore water rescue, and wildland firefighting.
Building Division:
- Which oversees daily building and electrical inspections, permitting, and residential and commercial plan review for all construction in and around the City of Kirkland. This department is focused on maintaining the safety and structural integrity of all construction activity within the City.
