Parking Permits
To help ensure that patrons have the best parking spaces, downtown employees are restricted from parking in the downtown core after 11:00 a.m. Monday – Sunday. However, employee parking permits are available at no charge at the Peter Kirk Municipal Garage (library garage). It is located at the southwest corner of Peter Kirk Park on the corner of Third Street and Kirkland Avenue in downtown Kirkland. There are 217 permit stalls located in the basement, ramp and one aisle on the upper level. Please watch for signs that designate specific permit parking spaces. After 6:00 p.m. all garage parking stalls are available to employees with no time-limits.
Parking permits can be picked up at City Hall’s business licensing counter. Bring-in vehicle registration to expedite processing. Permits are non-transferrable and must be re-issued if vehicle changes. For more information, call 425.587.3140.
What if I need to park after 11:00 a.m.?
Upon request, employees can ask for a Load/Unload placard. Placards do not expire. For other needs, a Day-Off placard is issued with the parking permit, and is good only when employees are NOT at their place of work. Day-Off placards allow employees the same parking privileges as any citizen who is not an employee of the downtown business. Most on-street parking is limited to 2-hours, and off-street parking lots, Lake & Central and Marina Park, have 3-hour limits. After 5:00 p.m. the lots convert to pay parking at $1 per hour. Pay stations are located at each parking lot.
Overtime parking fines are $25 for the first violation and increase with each violation up to $125.
