SALARY: $5,426 - $6,384/month, plus benefits

HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Network Analyst assures the effective operation, maintenance, and security of the City's computer and telecommunication networks including software and hardware supporting business applications and linking the City's various departments and facilities. This includes both internal networking and WAN connections to other agencies and service providers. Helps manage network software and hardware licensing and support contracts and vendor relationships. Proactively monitors the network for performance and designs, costs, and recommends upgrades and changes. Understands and enforces information technology security policy in regards to all aspects of computing, telecommunications, and networks. Helps set up and deploy servers and manages storage. Manages and protects the City’s data resources through storage management and backup and recovery practices. Maintains detailed, up-to-date documentation of system configurations, management procedures, problem fixes, vendor support contacts/procedures and disaster recovery procedures. Acts as a backup to the Network Engineer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business or a closely related field; three years experience supporting, implementing and administering network computer systems utilizing server and data communication operating systems and protocols in Windows, Unix, TCP/IP and Cisco environments; Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MSCE) certification or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) preferred; working knowledge of telecommunication systems and concepts; or any combination of education and experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Due to the level of security access required for this position, will be required to pass a Washington State Patrol Background Check.

WORK CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Incumbent is typically required to reach, stand, walk, finger, talk, hear and perform activities requiring repetitive motions. Work is typically light work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. As a condition of employment, must become a member of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees Union (AFSCME) within 30 days of employment or meet alternate regulations as set forth in the Agreement between the Union and the City.
